    A closeup portrait of a white lipped green treefrog. As you look into this image you may notice many different creatures hidden amongst the foliage. They include stick insects, katydids, dragonflys, moths and spiders. This colourful image was created from deep within the rainforest of North Queensland, Australia.

    Ferns are one of the oldest vascular (circulates water internally)plants on the planet, even older than the cycads. Tree ferns have a timeless geometric beauty, easily recognised by their never-ending spirals of growth. Emmerging from this fern forest are a couple of greene eyed treefrogs, northern dwarf frogs and a few tropical insects.

    Starfish are among the most familiar of marine invertebrates. They have complex life cycles and can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Most can regenerate damaged parts or lost arms and they can shed arms as a means of defence. The fossil record for starfish is ancient, dating back to the Ordovician around 450 million years ago.

    Katydids make their unique sounds by rubbing their front wings together. This allows them to sing to each other. They have ears on their front legs to hear. Apart from being able to jump up to 20 times their body length they are also masters of camouflage. Often they look like leaves with detailed imperfections & leaf veins on their bodies.
