The Nautilus is a living fossil which has survived
relatively unchanged for 450 million years. It is is a nocturnal
creature and spends most of its time in the great depths of the ocean.
Nautilus shells can still be found occasionally washed up on our tropcal
beaches. The shell is lined with mother-of-pearl & throughout its life grows
into increasingly larger chambers. This is why it has become a symbol for
expansion and renewal. The name Nautilus means sailor in Greek

pattern found in this Ammonite fossil shell is evident in many living
things. These fossils are reminders of oceans which evaporated millions
of years ago. Spirals of growth often appear in nature with their unique
mathematical properties: the size of the spiral increases but its shape is
unaltered with each successive curve.

Commonly known as the mud or mangrove crab (Scylla serrata), In their most common form, the shell colour varies from a deep, mottled green to
very dark brown. In the northern states of Australia and especially Queensland, mud crabs are relatively common. The females can give birth to 1 million offspring which can grow up to 3.5 kg in size and have a shell width of up to 24 cm wide.
