The human
body contains a miniature universe, a macrocosm. These
patterns or building blocks of life are clues to our
origins and structure. Naturesface reflects this universe
embedded in the human body. This collection of artwork
acknowledges the extraordinary in the ordinary. |
| By overlapping
forms and using transparency multiple layers are created
which represent different levels of understanding and
perception. These layers are all compressed into the
one harmonic composition of the present. I try to capture
continuous movement and a passing of time. |
| This collection
is strongly influenced by the Buddhist/Taoist philosophy:
nature and humanity are one. Other artists who have
been an influence in my work include the German biologist
and philosopher Ernsst Heindrich Haeckel, Chris Drury,
Karl Blossfeldt, Paul Klee, and Andy Goldsworthy. |
Texture in Time continues to
explore the fascination I have with the natural world.
By mixing special plants, organic textures and abstract
repettative patterns I have attempted to capture the
essence of things from the inside out. This series
was first exhibited at Kick Gallery, Northcote, Melbourne
2005. After a housefire in 2004 I felt inspired to
focus on the simple things in life we so often take
for granted. This series started with a single leaf
and became the image Leaflame resembling a candleflame
and transformation.
