A seahorse rests on a background of Seeds.A complete series of artwork was lost in a housefire before any of the images were exhibited. However, there are a few images which survived to tell a story. Ironiocally, many Australian native trees need the heat of a fire for their seeds to germinate. For many years I have walked along the beaches of South Australia, following the tideline hoping to find one of the very rare and elusive leafy sea dragons washed up. Having never found one I decided to create an image of one by combining the bones of a salmon and a seahorse skeleton. Other versions of this image had kelp and seaweed attached to the spikes but I actually prefer this one. More like a punk seahorse, elegant and with attitude at the same time.
